Our optical shop specializes in children's eyewear, providing a large variety of carefully selected, high-quality and durable, fashionable frames for children and the "young-at-heart." Our certified personnel are highly trained in fitting and measuring glasses. We are strong advocates for eye protection during sports activities, and we stock a variety of non-prescription and prescription sport frames for swimming, baseball, basketball, football and soccer. In addition, teenagers and adults can find unique frames from popular designers. What's more is that we have eye patches that are hypoallergenic and gentle to the tissue around the eye.

Our goal is to provide the best service for you, and we are committed to do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal. Our hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Please contact us about an appointment outside these hours; we'll be glad to accommodate you.

We've included areas of particular interest when selecting eye wear. For additional information and assistance, come visit us.

Frame selection matters:
We work with your child and you to select the frame style best suited for facial characteristics and prescription requirements. Our certified professional staff has been trained to obtain precise measurements to assure proper frame fit. These measurements include frame size, nasal bridge size, temple length, and interpupillary distance for proper optical centration. If bifocals are required, appropriate frame size is important to allow proper incorporation of the bifocal.

Not all lenses are equal:
We use the most sophisticated laboratories to fabricate our lenses, working closely with them to assure that the lenses are optimal for your individual prescription. The lens making process is very sophisticated, requiring precision computers and instruments. Each lens is inspected an average of eight times. This dedication to quality and individual attention takes time, and most glasses will be complete in 3 to 4 working days. Special lens fabrication for complex prescriptions, prisms, polarized lenses, mirror coatings, tinting, or special bifocals may require more time. Because of our committment to providing you with superior glasses, precisionly fabricated, and accurately inspected, we do not offer one hour service. Unless your prescription requires specialized fabrication such as a high prescription, anti-reflectant coating, or mirror coat, your glasses will be ready in 3-4 working days.

There are many lens considerations:
  • Polycarbonate lenses are recommended for most children, or for anyone who lives a more active lifestyle. These lenses are about four times more impact resistant than other lens materials. They block potentially damaging rays from UVB and UVA. They are very useful in higher prescription powers.
  • Aspheric lenses are recommended for higher powers of plus (farsighted) lenses. The benefits include lighter, thinner, and flatter lenses. They are optically and cosmetically superior to standard lens material.
  • High Index lenses are recommended for higher powers of minus (nearsighted) lenses. The benefits include less weight, thinner edges, cosmetic appeal, and optical superiority.
  • Multifocal lenses include flattop bifocal, progressive or no-line bifocals, and trifocals. Multifocal lenses provide a range of distances at which items are seen clearly.

Popular lens treatments:
  • Antireflective (AR) treatment is a coating applied to the front surface of lenses to reduce reflected light from the lens surface. Lenses are cosmetically more appealing, as lenses appear nearly invisible. AR coated lenses do require special care, and we will instruct you regarding proper cleaning and handling of this lens treatment.
  • Tinted lenses add to your comfort by reducing glare that causes eyestrain. Tinting lenses may also complement facial tones, adding a more fashionable look to new glasses. Many tints are available, with brown, green and gray being the best tints for sunglasses.
  • Photochromic lenses have a special light-sensitive membrane that responds to changes in UV light and temperature. As the UV rays increase, the lens darkens. As the UV light decreases, the lens lightens. Indoors, the lens lightens to a pleasing neutral tint that can help to reduce glare.
  • Polarized lenses are the most effective way to reduce glare and eliminate most damaging UV rays. The features and benefits include improved contrast, reduction of haze from atmospheric conditions, enhanced color rendition, and greater depth perception.
  • Mirror coating is a special treatment applied to the front surface of the lens through a vacuum process that allows the lens to take on the properties of a two-way mirror. Mirror coatings reflect the harsh light rays that are emitted from surfaces such as water, snow, and ice. These coatings are available in a wide array of fashionable colors.

Sunwear is not for summer alone:
All of our sunwear have UV protection; in addition, our children’s lenses are polycarbonate lenses for impact resistance. Adult sunwear includes a broad selection of polarized lenses and designer frames.

We fit contact lens:
We offer contact lens fitting and dispensing for a variety of disposable soft contact lenses. These include daily wear lenses, toric lenses, tinted lenses, and other options. We will work to assure that your fit is optimal for your prescription and personal needs.

Accuracy is important:
All lenses and frames are inspected prior to dispensing. Our professionals are trained to detect lens irregularities and to accurately measure by lensometry to verify correct prescription, including bifocal measurement and prism, when prescribed.

Insurance and warranty info:
We do not file insurance on glasses. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As for the warranty on your glasses, there is a one year, one time replacement on the lenses under normal wear and a manufacturer's one year, one time replacement on the frames (this manufacturer's warranty on the frames is for defects, and not for lose or abuse). These warranties do not apply to glasses purchased at a discount.
